Certain documents like medical, legal or highly technical documents require translator that is familiar with the terms used in the specific field of expertise. For these kind of documents we have the expert translation service where a native speaker expert translator does the translations.
Yes. This type of translations is called Expert Translations. Please see the answer above.
Our community provides proofreading services as well, i.e. they review the text in the languages it is written in without translation and fix it where needed. Proofreading costs $0.07 per source word.
Yes. At One Hour Translation it is possible to translate web sites as well.
We recommend that you create a list with links to the pages you want to translate,
below each link include all of the text you need translated from the specified web page.
The translator will be able to follow the link to better understand the context and translate accordingly.
To prevent confusion and increase efficiency, it is important to prepare the text for translation in a separate list as described above,
rather than send the translator to look at the website for the text that needs translation.

That's all there is to it. If you are already logged in the number of words will be taken from your account. If not you will be asked to register and enter your Paypal account or credit card. We will tell you when the translation starts and how long will it take to finish.

The translation service - quality and speed
One Hour Translation invests a lot of efforts in screening the translators that join our community and in monitoring the quality of their work on a regular basis after each and every translation job. In addition, using our quality verification technology we can detect and deal with potential translation quality issues in time. On top of that we recommend that you translate using Translate and review so 2 professional translators handle your text (see questions above for more info).
Any text can be translated from one language to another in many different ways, all of which may be correct. All of our translators are professional certified translators; still each has his style and choice of words. By selecting Additional Translation Proofreading, an additional independent translator Proofreads the translation. Having 2 professional translators look at the text guarantees perfect high quality result. Additional Proofreading is especially useful when translating websites, marketing material, printed material and so forth.
When a customer selects Translate and Proofread, the text is translated by one translator and then the translation is Proofread by another independent professional translator. The translator doing the proofreading is a more veteran translators on the site. This translation type is commonly used for website translation, translation of marketing material, printed material and so forth. Translation and Additional Proofreading costs $0.12 per source word, a 30% discount for the Proofreading.
Once a translator starts working on a translation job a countdown timer shows when the translation is going to be ready. In case a translator needs more time he will ask the customer directly for time extension. Translation of one page (200 words) takes approximately 1 hour.

The translation normally starts within 30 minutes. Once it starts a count-down timer shows when the translation is going to be ready. If the translation does not start within 30min. our customer service team gets involve to make sure a translator start working ASAP.
You may write a note to the translator in the relevant field in step 2. You may also chat with the translator using the communication board once the translation started. If you have special requests please make sure you communicate them clearly to the translator.
One Hour Translation has a community of over 8000 professional translators from around the world. We verify and certify each and every translator manually to keep the community professional. Translators are rated after each translation to maintain the high quality of our community.
In Asian languages like Chinese and Japanese we count the number of symbols. In cases where we cannot count (e.g. scanned documents) the customer needs to enter the number of symbols.
We automatically count the words in all of the common file types (MS Office, PDFs etc.). You may change the number if you have mixed text for example. In cases where we cannot count the number of words (e.g. in a scanned document) you will need to count them yourself. Note that translators will check how many words they need to translate. Inaccurate word count might delay your translation.
The source to be translated can be entered as text directly or you can upload a file or several files. The translators of our community can handle all of the common file types including MS Word, Power Point, Excel, pdf, jpg, gif and all of the other common file types.
Some of the translators can also deal with special file types (SDL etc.) you may contact us in advance to verify if the special file format you have is supported in the required language pair.
There are 2 ways to increase the certainty in a translation to language you are not familiar with. One is Translate and review, the translation is examined by another independent professional translator as described above.
The other way is Back-Translation - translating the original text with one translator, and then submitting the result to another translator to translate it back to the source language.
Translation Confidentiality
Yes. you may choose SSL encryption technology together with other measures to make sure that all of our customers and translators details and all of the material translated are well secured.
All of our translators are bounded by Non-Discloser Agreement (NDA) as part of the terms and conditions they sign before beginning to work with us.
The text/ documents you submit to translation are viewed only by the translator and by the translator doing the review in case you selected Translate and review.
Translation Rates
Yes. We offer discount on bulk purchases of words. The discount increases as the number of words increase. Discounts starts from 5,000 and up. For buying 100,000 words at once we provide a 5% discount.
We charge $0.14 per word for translations that require expert translator. The following fields require Expert translation:
Automotive/Aerospace , Business/Finance , IT , Legal , Marketing/Consumer , Media/Entertainment , Medical , Patents , Scientific , Technical/Engineering,
Make sure you select Expert translation if you want a relevant expert to translate your text. General translators may be able to translate the text but they don't necessarily have the required domain expertise.
We charge $0.07 per word for general translation. Translate and Review costs $0.12 per word. Expert translation costs $0.14 per word. expert translation is the preferred translation for legal translation, medical translation, technical translation, business translation etc. We add to that price the Paypal or the credit card transaction cost.
We are able to reduce costs by using the Internet in order to make the human translation process more efficient. We eliminate the overhead for both the translators and the customers. Our costs are lower so we can transfer the savings to the customers.
Furthermore, our system is based on a dynamic first-bidder-wins method, each of the 8000+ translators in our community can decide if a translation job offered is right for her (considering size, price, time etc.).
In addition, our pricing is based on word count; you only pay for the amount of words you submitted.

Yes you can put a note to the translator before the project starts and communicate with her/him freely using the Discussion Board on the project page.

- Expert Translation - medical translation, legal translation, technical translation or other specialized material. Expert translation costs $0.14 per word. Please note that you decide if you want Expert translation or regular translation.
Translation project is sent immediately after you complete the 1,2,3 steps on our home page. During business hours a translator will usually start working within 30 min.
Since we have dozens of translators for each language pair, we can easily split large projects so the work can be done in parallel.
Translation of one, 200 words page, takes one hour ONCE the translator started working. A professional translator translates about 1800 words a day.
We charge a fixed price of $0.07 per word (in the original file) for all languages. We do NOT charge any other fees like editing, project management, etc.
